Housing Grants for Low Income Families
Housing
Grants for Low Income Families to Improve Their Home
A protected and permanent shelter
is an essential pre-requisite for all but not all have the financial strength
to purchase a home or reside in a rented apartment. In US there are several low
income families who face eviction and foreclosure every year due to shortage of
funds and become homeless.
To lend help and housing support
to such monetarily distressed families the government, states, nonprofits,
community agencies and organizations have initiated several housing grants and
programs that assist in paying the rent and mortgages and also offer financial
backing for home purchasing. Let’s have a look at the housing grants.
U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Low income families may seek
assistance from HUD for their rental needs. It’s a federal agency that offers
approximately $1 billion every year for the safe and secured housing of the financially
constrained people. The funds are available from the local governments, non-profit
organizations and local communities. Based on the income level of the
applicants grant amounts are offered to fulfill accommodation needs.

in rural areas, receive housing grants from the USDA for payment of their rent
and mortgage. The income of the applicant is evaluated and then vouchers are
paid accordingly to compensate the amount that the applicant can’t afford to
pay the renter.
Salvation

The organization aims to offer
mortgage and rental assistance to low income families to prevent homelessness
and eviction. It grants long term assistance through its multiple housing
programs like emergency shelter, house maintenance, rental fund assistance for
two years and transitional housing.
There are many other Catholic
churches like Lutheran Services in America, American Red Cross, Love in the
Name of Christ, YMCA, Saint Vincent de Paul and others that offer integrated
and safe living.
Community

and bill payments. Applicants can seek help from CAO to apply for housing
grants at the federal, state, local levels and also private organizations, nonprofits
and churches.
